Author: Steve Berry

Narrator: Scott Brick

Version: Unabridged

Listening Length: 13 hours and 25 minutes

The Kings Deception is a masterpiece by Steve Berry. It starts off with an unsuspecting Father (Cotton Malone) and son assisting a fugitive back to England, but with a turn of events, they were unsuccessful in doing so, since both the fugitive and his son were gone. This book will give you one of the best thrills ever.

If you haven’t been following the adventures of Berry’s hero Cotton Malone, you’d be amused to think that he can’t seem to make a simple trip from one place to another without being caught into something that entwines him with international conspiracy.

Hopefully this review will give you an idea about how great The Kings Deception really is.

The Kings Deception Audiobook – Don’t compare Cotton

You might have heard a lot about the comparison of Dan Brown’s hero of Robert Langdon with Cotton Malone, but they are not the same. First and foremost, they face different aspects and conspiracies. Though both are kind of witty and seem to find trouble each time, Cotton seems to fall for them unknowingly, unlike Robert who is the one sought for.

Anyhow, reading this novel will help you understand the big difference and how an amazing character Cotton Malone is. Prepare to enter his mind and learn how he does away with things.

The Kings Deception Audiobook – Get To Know London

This book will be a good way to learn about London’s landmarks. You’d be amazed on how he has studied history and also come up with a great plot out of these places. I heard that he stayed on some places on his book to get the feel of the place.

The Kings Deception Audiobook – About the Narrator

No issues on the narrator. The story is well narrated with adequate feelings. 13 hours will easily pass.

The Kings Deception Audiobook – The plot

The plot basically centers on a CIA operation to blackmail the English government so that they can pressure the country of Scotland to release a locked bomber through a so called “humanitarian reasons.” This is the only section I’ll share about the plot. From that, you can expect a lot of conspiracy and mind games as you move along the novel.

You’ll also figure that the character may not be the one you expect him to be. The unexpected turn of events truly makes this book enjoyable. And, yes a simple synopsis will not cover the convoluted path of the novel.

The Kings Deception Audiobook – Fans of Steve Berry will love this

As for fans of this great author, once you finish reading this, you’ll be looking forward for his next book.

The Kings Deception Audiobook – In Conclusion

If you are the historical guy who wants to have a thrill at the same time, then The Kings Deception is for you. Berry’s intricate description of places and government schemes will keep you asking for more. This book is a work of art.

Listening Length: 11 hours and 25 minutes

This new book, Bad Monkey, by Carl Hiaasen is a thriller that will let you grip your chair while reading. This goes well to all the fans of crime novels. Mix all of these and you get Bad Monkey.

People who know the writing style of Carl Hiaasen or have read some of his books will especially enjoy this new book of his. The characters, especially the hero, have showed strong sense of righteousness in an unpredictable, sometimes funny ways.

The narrator has an intricate voice. He tells the story very well and it might be obvious that the narrator is enjoying the twists and turn of the story as well. You can easily feel the emotions and this might be an audiobook you listen to over and over again.

Bad Monkey Audiobook – The story

As might notice, this book is very hard to explain. I guess one has to read it to truly get the gist of it. Even synopses aren’t good enough compared to reading or listening tothe whole book. So if you really want to get in the mind of Carl, then there’s no other way but to read the book.

Hunger Games Audiobook – Official Site

Author: Suzanne Collins

Narrator: Carolyn McCormick

Version: Unabridged

Listening Length: 11 hours, 14 minutes

Many of my friends were raving about The Hunger Games audiobook so I decided to give it a listen. I am more of a listener than a reader as I can lend my ears to an audiobook while driving, doing boring chores or jogging on the treadmill. But the listening experience depends entirely on the narrator. If his/her voice is too low or high or raspy, it can spoil the fun. But Carolyn McCormick’s incredible voice impressed me immediately when I listened to a sample first. She strikes a great balance between expressiveness and steadiness, which makes it a joy to listen to this audiobook.

Hunger Games Audiobook  – Intriguing Plot

The engrossing plot is sure to have you hooked. In this post-apocalyptic fantasy, the eponymous Hunger Games refer to an annual gladiatorial fight-to-the-death bloody contest on live TV. The teenaged heroine Katniss Everdeen agrees to put her life on line by taking the place of her sister in the games. Carolyn McCormick’s voice magically portrays the drama, thrills, beauty and romance of Katniss’ brave sacrifice. You are bound to feel breathless while listening to the heroine overcome the many challenges she comes to face with.

Hunger Games Audiobook – Not for the Squeamish

The excellent storytelling in first person is bound to involve you completely in the drama from beginning to end. Though The Hunger Games audiobook is targeted at young adults, listeners of all ages can have a good time and learn some valuable life lessons regarding family, trust, honor and survival in the process. A word of caution though, the plot of this audiobook is dark, brutal and violent. I almost became a nervous wreck listening to how youngsters are forced to kill to save their lives in the hunger games. So if you are the squeamish type, it would be better to avoid this tale.

Hunger Games Audiobook  – Wonderful Narration

McCormick is a talented narrator who infuses the right emotions and pace into her words. She modulates her voice wonderfully for each of the characters which enable you to distinguish them easily. In fact while listening to her rendition I stopped doing my chores many a time to pay closer attention to the story.

Hunger Games Audiobook  – Great Singing

One of the highlights of this audiobook is the wonderful scene where Katniss sings a mournful dirge to a character named Rue. McCormick’s voice stands out and she does wonderful justice to this scene.

Hunger Games Audiobook  – Compelling Narrative

The Hunger Games audiobook narrates the saga of Katniss spread over three books. The narrative is so compelling that you would feel like rushing immediately to listen to the next book as soon as you finish one. So make sure you have all three parts at hand before you start listening to this audiobook.

Hunger Games Audiobook  – In Conclusion

The $24.95 cost of The Hunger Games audiobook is a wonderful investment considering its entertainment and enlightenment value. Carolyn McCormick’s evocative voice brings all the characters to life and makes listening to this audiobook a far superior and more enjoyable experience compared to reading the physical book. So get your copy today and immerse yourself in the brutal but brave world of Katniss Everdeen.

Give and take audiobook – Official site

Give and Take audiobook by Adam M. Grant was released in 2013 and has already become a hit. This audiobook reveals the key to success in a very unique way. Essentially it reveals that in life, and indeed in business, there are three different types of people- the Givers, the Takes and the Matchers.

Give and Take Audiobook – Don’t Like Reading? Listen

In business, many have emphasized that success is a measure of intelligence, skills and luck. However, business leaders reveal that how a person interacts with others plays a very significant role in a person’s success. The business professor, Grant, carried out an extensive research on how people interact with others and came to the conclusion that most people function as gives, takers or matchers. The audiobook, therefore, gives a description and analysis of the three groups of people and offers the best option for success.

As the word proposes, the takers take from others and people who are classified under this category are essentially self-centered. Givers, on the other hand, give without expecting any returns and are normally others-centered. The last group of people, the matchers, gives only when they expect to get something in return. The people operating as matchers are good at reciprocating in equal measures. Grant reveals the influence that the three styles have on success.

The givers are described as having the highest rate of success in the business world. As givers give, they tend to make others want to give and many people want to work with them. Givers think of relationships as a positive-sum game where everyone ought to be a winner. This audiobook explains why giving is a great success strategy and in what conditions the strategy would actually work. Many givers get burnt, especially when used by the takes. However, being a smart giver will open a new road to success for you. Grant reveals that giving with a sense of purpose and where ones interest lie without expecting any reward is fundamental. This is what differentiates between a successful giver and a not-so-successful one.

The give and take audiobook reveals this insight in a very interesting and conversational manner. It will keep your ears glued for hours as you learn more and more on how to be a great giver. The giver success is ideal and would transform the entire society since everyone would be a winner. In a world where individualism and greed is at the center of financial success, give and take offers a healthier alternative that would lead to what has been termed by business leaders as ‘ business philanthropy’.

The first chapter is an argument that gives you insight on why givers are winners. Throughout the audiobook there is evidence for the argument coupled with fascinating success stories of financial giants. It conveys interesting research and delivers practical advice on how to be a winner. The audiobook also highlights the similar tenets that effective networking, influence, collaboration, leadership and negotiation skills have. The give and take audiobook will get you started in monitoring your own interpersonal dealings as well the discovering operating style of people around you.

The Name of the Wind audiobook is a great choice for anyone who enjoys listening to audiobooks or someone who is willing to give one a chance. The audiobook version of Patrick Rothfuss’ novel of the same name. It is narrated in first person and is riveting story about a young man who becomes a notorious magician. This audiobook suits anyone who enjoys powerful coming-of-age-stories and can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter what age. Fans of George R.R. Martin and J.K. Rowling will definitely enjoy listening to the narration of Podehl or Degas as they read The Name of the Wind.

The Name Of The Wind Audiobook – Narration

Only an extraordinary narrator can enhance and audiobook. Without the right narrator, listening to an audiobook will become dull and boring. A great narrator will be able to put life and emotion in a story. The Name of the Wind was narrated by two different people. The version by Nick Podehl was recorded in 2009, and a more recent audiobook was recorded in 2012 by Rupert Degas. The earlier version by Podehl is beautifully narrated and much more suitable for adults as Podehl does not change his voice to suit the character. He keeps his natural tone and narrates as if he is telling the story of Kvothe – the main character. Though he did not add anything special to the story, he did a fine jobin delivering the message that Rothfuss had for his readers/listeners. Many younger listeners prefer the latest version by Degas where the narration is much more suitable for those ages 14 and below. However, even adults can appreciate the dynamic tone and style of reading of Degas as he tries to add more emotion to the story by shifting his voice depending on what he sees fit for the characters.

The Name Of The Wind Audiobook – The story

The Name of the Wind can be compared to many popular fantasy books of its time. Though the story by Rothfuss has been criticized by many readers for being too cliche, many people have enjoyed reading Rothfuss’ work. But, if you don’t mind a good adventure and an exciting storyline, you would love this story. It’s perfect for anyone who has a great imagination and would want to step right into an entirely new world full of amazing creatures and magical beings. It is not difficult to fall in love with the characters and get drawn in by the story.

The Name Of The Wind Audiobook – Listening to the audiobook

Slip into a fantasy world created by Rothfuss with amazing imagery that can make you feel as if you fell right into the world of Kvothe. You can take this audiobook with you on a long trip (in the car, a bus or a plane), in school, waiting in line or anywhere you want. However, it is best enjoyed while curled up in your living room on a cozy morning with a nice cup of tea. Whether you are an avid audiobook listener or not, you will enjoy listening to either Podehl or Degas narrate the story The Name of the Wind.

The curious thing about habits is that although we rarely examine them, they determine to a large part of our success or failure in life. In the audiobook “The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business” author Charles Duhigg gives a multitude of examples of how individuals have turned around their lives and found success by implementing new habits.

In the introduction of The Power of Habit we met a young woman who previously was overweight, broke and unlucky in love. By making one small change to her habits she was able to transform her life, quit smoking, run a marathon and get promoted at work.

The Power of Habit is about more than individual behaviour change however. It also examines how companies use our habits to market to us. In one story the company Proctor and Gamble were struggling to sell a new deodorizing product called Febreze. By creating a new habit for people cleaning their home, they were able to take a product they couldn’t sell to a billion dollar block buster for the company.

Charles Duhigg is a professional journalist and his ability to tell a compelling story is evident through out the book. Each of the major principles in the power of habit audiobook is backed by stories which illustrate how they work in practice. In the first chapter of the book we are introduced to the idea of habit loops. This loop consists of a trigger for the habit, the habitual routine and finally the reward we receive for performing the habit.

In the second chapter we learn how companies like Proctor and Gamble use this habit loop, and in particular the reward to change behavior. In third chapter we learn how we can create our own loops to create new habits. These first three chapters are the most important part of the book, and it is recommended that you pay close attention to these. The remainder of the audio book reinforces these ideas, as well as introducing new concepts like how companies have learned to predict our habits and how to make willpower automatic.

The only criticism I would level at this book is that there is not a specific blueprint given of how we can affect habit change in our lives. While there are plenty of examples given and an explanation of how individuals and companies change habits, the book may have benefited by a more step by step approach that readers can take.

The audio book is high quality with narration by Mike Chamberlain. One of the great things about listening to the audio book version of “The Power of Habit” at the gym, or while walking or jogging, is that you can think about the ideas of how to make sure that these are installed as regular habits. Making exercise a habit is one of the key changes made in many of the individuals that have turned their lives around in the book.

Learning how to install new beneficial habits can make a massive difference in your life. The Power of Habit audiobook is the perfect way to stop our habits working against us and instead have them work in our favor. Anyone who is interested in improving themselves or even why we do what we do, will be fascinated by this book.

Gone Girl Audiobook – Narrators

The narrator of each story can make or break an audiobook. Without the right narrator, an exciting story can turn dull, boring and lifeless. The great thing about this audiobook is that it stays true to the story and offers two narrator counterparts for the male and female chapters. Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne are definitely excellent narrators and they really did the book justice. Their dynamic story-telling abilities offered emotion and substance that added so much more depth to the story being told. As the story switches from one narrator to another, you will still feel the flow of the chapters. It isn’t jarring or confusing and you will feel as if you are there witnessing everything first hand.

The emotions used by the narrators aren’t to exaggerated and are appropriate for the story. The characters sound just as they should and they deliver the story with such ease. You end up feeling as if you know the characters and they are speaking directly to you. This audiobook is a couple of hours long, but you’ll be sure to get hooked even after the first couple of chapters.
